Professional Development Opportunities
Nicaraguan youth are extraordinarily talented and are eager to achieve a better life and improve their communities. Many families have sacrificed to send their children to university because they know education is the key, but often the lack of resources has been an obstacle. This is why Fundación A. Jean Brugger provides scholarship opportunities to young people so they can pursue university careers.
As part of our strategy we find ways to provide professional development opportunities, including innovating within our own programs.
2020 has brought a new opportunity: a 6 months internship at the Colegio Nórdico Internacional (CNI) in Managua. Two Fundación scholars are at the point in their humanities studies where this intern opportunity could make a large difference in their professional development.
The scholars would be teacher’s assistants for children in the first years of education (from preschool to third grade), and would learn from the experience of the Center for Educational and Social Research (CIASES), which has developed a comprehensive early childhood educational system, the “Chiqui Gym” educational project, which is implemented in the CNI.
The two scholars are from the San Juan del Sur area and although they both study in Managua, they do so in Saturday courses. In order to take advantage of this internship opportunity, they must travel to and/or remain in Managua for more days than normal.
