Miurel Francellys Martínez Bonilla
Physical Therapy Scholarship annual cost: $1790 |
Miurel lives with her mother in a community close to SJDS. Her family income depends on her mother's job as a Spanish teacher, which depends on tourism.
When Miurel was five years old, a family member fell and needed therapy to help him walk again. Even as a child, Miurel could see that the therapy he received was not adequate. Five years later, her great-grandmother fell and Miurel was sad that no one in the family had the knowledge to help her.
Miurel is only 16 years old and will be graduating from high school this year (with excellent grades), and she is passionate about the career she chose and has already been educating herself by watching videos online. Recently, she helped someone in her family who had injured his wrist and, in her description of what she had done, demonstrated a good knowledge of human anatomy.
She describes herself as responsible, respectful, and generous, and loves to exercise in her spare time. Miurel's goal is to study hard and one day have her own physical therapy clinic.
