María Angélica is a 29-year-old single mother with two children, ages 9 and 13, from a rural area outside the SJDS. She had worked at Selinas Maderas before the pandemic and her former boss wrote a very enthusiastic letter of recommendation. She currently runs an online retail business and also makes food to sell at her home.
In the years since she graduated from high school in 2010, María Angélica has taken many technical courses, including accounting and business administration. She got high marks in all the courses she took and, in fact, the day she came to FAJB for an interview was the last day of a technical course and her teacher gave her permission to leave in the middle of the final exam. Her accounting course made her realize that she wanted to be a CPA.
María Angélica has followed FAJB on Facebook and was motivated to apply for a scholarship because the young people always looked happy and content with the opportunity they were given. She believes that there are opportunities in life and when they appear, you should do everything you can to take advantage of them.
She describes herself as dramatic and happy. She helps young people in her community with their senior thesis for high school. She has a big heart for animals, and although she has little for herself, she buys food for the cats and dogs she sees on the street and once saved up so she could help a neighbor neuter her cat. María Angélica would love to participate in a project to reduce the number of stray dogs and cats
