Stefany Lisbeth Brenes López
Business Scholarship annual cost: $1625 |
Stefany lives in the El Oro community of San Juan del Sur with her maternal grandmother and younger brother. Since childhood, she has maintained a distant relationship with her mother and father for various reasons, which is why her maternal grandmother took care of her. Her mother is a primary school teacher.
The economic situation in her home is adverse. Her grandmother is elderly, has several health problems and has a small pension that only covers some expenses. Her mother and uncles also contribute to the household. Stefany does not work, she studies several hours after school to maintain her academic excellence. Her favorite subjects are physics and mathematics.
She has the dream of being a business administrator, she loves the art of negotiation to the point where she believes that this is her greatest passion in life. She is deeply grateful and committed to those people who share her dreams and help her achieve her goals. She also feels a social responsibility to her community.
One of her greatest sources of inspiration is her grandmother; she has taught her everything she knows about life, in particular the effort and determination necessary to achieve goals. Stefany holds the wish that her grandmother can see her graduate, and then she can reward her for all that she had done to care for Stefany since she was a child.
Completing your university education is also a way to achieve greater respect in your family and society and in turn achieve economic independence.
Stefany supports different activities in the Catholic Church such as: Purísima celebrations, collecting money for church works, among others.
Currently there are problems of theft and drug addiction in her community, so she wants to help young people by giving them support, motivational talks and influencing them to attend rehabilitation centers. With her example of self-improvement, she wants to help the youth not stagnate but fight to overcome obstacles to achieve their dreams.
