 Keyner Elí Rodríguez Estrada

Law
Scholarship annual cost: $1625
If you would like to sponsor Keyner,
please
email Board President Katie Brugger
Keyner dreams of becoming a lawyer. He feels that the justice system is never perfect so he wants to be able to help people get justice. Keyner is a humble and eloquent young man with strong values. He and a group of friends, on their own initiative, tutor children in their neighborhood twice a week, and Keyner also helps at a local primary school tutoring in geography and natural science. He feels that community service is important because that’s how we form as a person; we always gain more than what we give. He says that he has learned more from the kids than they’ve learned from him. Keyner looks forward to the opportunity to be involved in the community service program of the Fundación.

Keyner graduated high school with an excellent academic average of 93%. He has participated in public speaking contests and plays. His preferred classes were: language and literature, geography and natural sciences. He is currently in his first year studying law at Upoli-Rivas.

Keyner was born on April 10, 2002 and lives in San Juan del Sur. Keyner is the eldest of three brothers. They live with their mother, and the family’s sole income comes from her job as a cook in a local restaurant. For Keyner’s family the current economic situation is difficult, which means an uncertain future for his university studies. However, he is determined to study. He hopes to obtain a scholarship to fulfill his aspirations but if not he will find a job to support his mother and start his professional studies.

Keyner is characterized by being a respectful, trustworthy, and responsible young man with a great desire to excel. He wants to honor his mother's effort for him. He is concerned about poverty, unemployment and the low level of education in many of the inhabitants of his community. Keyner dreams of becoming a professional to improve his mother’s life, and also of creating a non-profit foundation to serve his community.
