Jon Thompson, Executive Director: Mr. Thompson first visited San Juan del Sur in 1998. Since then, he has obtained a Masters of Social Work from Georgia State University, concentrating on community development initiatives in low-income communities in the US and Nicaragua. He married a young woman from San Juan del Sur in 2002 and now lives here full time with his wife and son. Jon has been with Fundación A. Jean Brugger since December 2005 and enjoys working to bridge resources to local needs in ways that are inclusive, appropriate, and mutually beneficial for the entire community.

Sarah Mauldin de Baldovinos, Communications and Development Coordinator: Ms. Mauldin has lived and worked in Nicaragua since 1994, with various non-profit organizations. In 2008, Sarah married a native Managuan, and they have made San Juan del Sur their home. Sarah has been a part of the Foundation team since 2008, and brings extensive knowledge of the country and the culture to aid the Foundation in its endeavors.
Alvaro Antonio Novoa, Executive Administrative Assistant: Mr. Novoa is originally from the town of San Jorge, about half an hour from San Juan del Sur, and he and his wife have a 2 year old little girl. Alvaro has two degrees, the first as a superior technician in the field of Social and Human Promotion, and the second a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Development Procedures from Universidad Centroamericana (UCA). He has a long history of professional experience with non-profit organizations, in the fields of Community Organization and Formation Promotion, Human Rights, Immigration, Social Research, Social Program and/or Project Management, Coordination and Project Monitoring and Evaluation and more. He has participated abroad (in all Central American countries, as well as Colombia and Ecuador) in courses on current social themes. We are proud to have Alvaro’s broad knowledge base and strong work ethic on board!
Ludwig Fernando Castro Potoy, Office Coordinator: Mr. Potoy is a native of San Juan del Sur, but two years ago was forced to move to Managua to find work due to his mother’s passing. We now welcome Fernando to our staff as a strong coordinator and team-player. He has previously worked as an administrator and customer service representative at a bookstore and as a salesperson and bookkeeper at an agrochemicals importation company. He is happy to be back in his hometown, in order to dedicate himself to reaching his goals, have a stable job and reach his professional dreams, while finishing his university degree.
