Founders

Jean Brugger, President: Ms. Brugger has been actively involved in Central America for more than fifteen years and has lived in Nicaragua since 1998. With a background in health and human services and education, Jean brings several decades of tremendous experience, knowledge, and commitment to the Foundation. A retired R.N., Red Cross nurse, and former director of an international holistic nursing organization, Jean's knowledge of human challenges and the specific educational needs of Central American communities are invaluable to the Foundation and to the residents of San Juan del Sur. Ms. Brugger is also Co-founder of Piedras y Olas Hotel and Resort.

Chris R. A. Berry, Vice President: A twentieh-year resident of San Juan del Sur, Chris is founder and manager of Piedras y Olas, a unique, socially conscious, real estate development project that pairs a thriving for-profit hotel business with a nonprofit foundation to offer educational opportunities, job training, and financial support for the community's young people. Chris an accomplished hotelier and sailing captain, brings more than twenty years of professional, social, and philanthropic experience to his efforts for the Foundation.
