Founders

Jean Brugger, President: Ms. Brugger has been actively involved in Central America for more than fifteen years and has lived in Nicaragua since 1998. With a background in health and human services and education, Jean brings several decades of tremendous experience, knowledge, and commitment to the Foundation. A retired R.N., Red Cross nurse, and former director of an international holistic nursing organization, Jean's knowledge of human challenges and the specific educational needs of Central American communities are invaluable to the Foundation and to the residents of San Juan del Sur.

Chris R. A. Berry, Co-Founder: A long-time resident of San Juan del Sur with dual American and Nicaraguan citizenship, Mr. Berry also founded the Piedras y Olas Hotel, which was an original partner of Fundación A. Jean Brugger. Mr. Berry, an accomplished lawyer, hotelier, and sailing captain, brought more than twenty years of professional, social, and philanthropic experience to his efforts for the Foundation.
