Fundación A. Jean Brugger scholarship students presented a Days for Girls program in Tortuga on Sunday, March 18. 16 young women of the community attended. The program was given by Belkys Guillen, Idalia Martinez, Ingrid Obando, Maria Fernanda Veliz, Aurora Perez, and Josette Garbanzo.
The Days for Girls program provides educational materials about the changes in the female body at puberty and washable menstrual pads packaged in attractive ‘kits.’ Fundación scholarship students have developed an interesting and educational program that incorporates their personal experiences to help the young women feel comfortable and relaxed enough to share their own experiences and concerns. Thanks to our drivers Chetana Karla Shakti and Barbara Vazquez, for not only transporting us but also sharing your stories. Thanks to our special guest Lisa Rushing Leach for sharing your experiences also. And thanks always to Heidi Glantzberg for bringing the Days for Girls program to San Juan del Sur.
