Fundación A. Jean Brugger scholarship students are organized into groups based on their area of study, and each group develops a community service project which they implement in different communities of San Juan del Sur. In 2017 students of economic sciences, trade and customs implemented an initiative with the name "promotion of the social value of community participation," which has benefited 25 children of the fifth and sixth grades of the Maria Auxiliadora school. This group celebrated their final gathering making Christmas-related handicrafts. Another group of students in economic sciences had an initiative by the name of "promoting financial education in children,” which took place in the Camilo Ortega neighborhood and benefited 20 boys and girls. The Tourism students implemented a social initiative with English classes for 20 primary school children from the Azul y Blanco school in the El Remanso community. The legal sciences and humanities group’s initiative was "Group and Community Counseling,” benefiting 32 sixth-grade students of the Sauda Bikerland school of the community of Las Delicias. In this initiative, they offered counseling on the prevention of drug consumption, trafficking in persons, sexual and commercial exploitation of children and adolescents, bullying, etc. Each year is a new experience for our scholarship students as they implement a community service project in which they achieve experience working as a team with students in a similar field of study, as well as sharing their learning with the beneficiaries of their community projects. "Our experience with the children was very rewarding, as a group we were more united by this experience, we were able to support each other in classes, even if we did not see each other so often, it helped us grow and adapt to each other particularly when it came to scheduling conflicts. Throughout this year we can say that it helped us to unite as project partners, as Fundación scholars, as colleagues who share the same career and as friends since we rely on each other in different situations. (Cristhel Mendoza coordinator of the group of students of Tourism November 2017). The Fundación congratulates all the scholarship students who have dedicated a little of their time to service to the community and also thanks the teachers and officials of the Ministry of Education of San Juan del Sur for their openness in working closely with Fundación A. Jean Brugger for the service and benefit of our communities. Jean Brugger: "Provide education opportunities for human and community development" "I asked God to touch their hearts, everything happened and Fundación found a sponsor for me, it was my last year of university which for me was the most important of all, in which the Fundación and my sponsor supported me in a big way, thanks to you I could fulfill the dream of doing my thesis, and participate in the graduation and be who I am now, a graduate in Clinical Bionalysis. I have no better way to thank them for all the support I have received, than asking God to bless them and give health and life to all the good people who support young people like me with few economic resources through Fundación. "(Ariel Serrano, 2017).
