During the week of July 02 to 06, the second Baseball Camp of 2018 was held in the community of Bastón, which is part of the municipality of San Juan del Sur. 30 boys and girls participated in this seminar.
In this workshop they were taught habits and values for their personal development, such as discipline and teamwork, as well as classes in baseball technique. On the last day of the camp, with techniques learned, a friendly baseball match was played between 2 groups of children. This was followed by a closing event in which presents were given to the 6 best participants, which took into account the children’s behavior and participation throughout the seminar. Afterwards they all enjoyed pizza and a piñata. We thank the sponsor of the baseball camp, the Christopher Shatagin Foundation, for making these popular events possible. We are also grateful to our coach Alejandro Noguera, who inspires the participants to do their best, and also to our scholarship students Lismadiela Báez, Joselin Romero, and Ingrid Obando.

On Saturday, June 30, Fundación A Jean Brugger scholarship students organized a beach clean-up with the children from the neighborhood of Camilo Ortega. This group of FAJB students has made environmental education their community service project this year.
The beach clean-up was carried out with the objective of raising awareness and cultivating a beach-cleaning culture among the children. The duration of the activity was 2 hours. They first collected all the trash at the seashore that detracted from the beauty of our lovely bay, then played games, with the scholarship students having as much fun as the children. The activity ended with an Eskimo ice cream as a snack as well as chocolates and candies. Apart from raising awareness in the children of the importance of the care and cleanliness of the beach, the scholarship students want to create in them the culture of recycling, taking as a focal point the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), since with the waste found throughout each class we will do crafts. The activity was attended by 18 children who were very enthusiastic about this first cleaning of our bay. The scholarship students in this project are Maria Jose Sanchez, Ingrid Perez, Francis Quiroz, Lilieth Jimenez, Cesar Romero, Ruth Rostran, Casta Rivera, and Karina Chavez. Fundación A. Jean Brugger congratulates the economic science group for its excellent social initiative in our community.
