Second Baseball Camp of 2018 in the community of Bastón.

During the week of July 02 to 06, the second Baseball Camp of 2018 was held in the community of Bastón, which is part of the municipality of San Juan del Sur. 30 boys and girls participated in this seminar.
In this workshop they were taught habits and values for their personal development, such as discipline and teamwork, as well as classes in baseball technique.
On the last day of the camp, with techniques learned, a friendly baseball match was played between 2 groups of children. This was followed by a closing event in which presents were given to the 6 best participants, which took into account the children’s behavior and participation throughout the seminar.
Afterwards they all enjoyed pizza and a piñata. We thank the sponsor of the baseball camp, the Christopher Shatagin Foundation, for making these popular events possible.
We are also grateful to our coach Alejandro Noguera, who inspires the participants to do their best, and also to our scholarship students Lismadiela Báez, Joselin Romero, and Ingrid Obando.

Empowerment through Environmental Education.

On Saturday, June 30, Fundación A Jean Brugger scholarship students organized a beach clean-up with the children from the neighborhood of Camilo Ortega. This group of FAJB students has made environmental education their community service project this year.
The beach clean-up was carried out with the objective of raising awareness and cultivating a beach-cleaning culture among the children. The duration of the activity was 2 hours. They first collected all the trash at the seashore that detracted from the beauty of our lovely bay, then played games, with the scholarship students having as much fun as the children.
The activity ended with an Eskimo ice cream as a snack as well as chocolates and candies. Apart from raising awareness in the children of the importance of the care and cleanliness of the beach, the scholarship students want to create in them the culture of recycling, taking as a focal point the three Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle), since with the waste found throughout each class we will do crafts. The activity was attended by 18 children who were very enthusiastic about this first cleaning of our bay.
The scholarship students in this project are Maria Jose Sanchez, Ingrid Perez, Francis Quiroz, Lilieth Jimenez, Cesar Romero, Ruth Rostran, Casta Rivera, and Karina Chavez. Fundación A. Jean Brugger congratulates the economic science group for its excellent social initiative in our community.

With the help of our scholarship student, Joselin Romero, who is studying Dentistry, a group of students in the fields of Tourism and International Commerce received their first training in the basic techniques for the prevention of cavities. They plan to put this training into practice in their community service project, in which they will impart the basic techniques of proper dental hygiene to children of San Juan del Sur.
This training took place Wednesday, June 27 in the Fundación offices. We are grateful to Joselin Romero for this service that she is giving to both the Fundación and to the community.

Fundación A, Jean Brugger scholarship students helped in the organization and execution of the end-of-semester fair at Barrio La Planta Project (BPP). The participation of our scholarship students in this activity enabled them to become familiarized with the different educational programs that make up BPP. This is part of an alliance that the Fundación A. Jean Brugger has been developing with the Barrio La Planta project. In the interest of creating a union of effort for education, our scholarship students in computer science and civil engineering will volunteer as educational facilitators in the training programs implemented by the La Planta Project in the second semester of this year.
This fair was held on Saturday June 16 at the school, which is located across from the boardwalk of San Juan del Sur. We take this opportunity to thank BPP’s new director Savannah Armstrong for accepting our alliance proposal.
