On May 15 we celebrated Mother’s Day with the senior citizens at El Timon restaurant. The attendants danced, sang and recited poems, enjoyed a piñata, and had a delicious lunch. This event was made possible by the generous support of Deborah Cornue and Jane Erickson from the US. Local companies also supported the Fundación A. Jean Brugger’s effort with the sponsorship of basic baskets: Sunset Hotel, Legal Solutions, and Discover Real Estate. Thanks also to Mrs. Jean Brugger and to students of the scholarship program who donated baskets to reward the elderly. Baskets were awarded to the oldest woman present (97 years), the oldest man (105 years), and the woman with the most children (18 children). In addition, a basket was awarded to the woman who attended this activity since the beginning of the seniors program 15 years ago. Many thanks once again to Restaurante El Timón for its support, thanks to its staff for the attention and kindness with which they attend our elders, and finally thanks for the surprise dance by the waiters and the restaurant chef. Thanks to the students who collaborated in this activity: Daniela Dangla, Denisse Tenorio, María José Sánchez, Sharling Rodríguez, Francisco Zeas, Ana Odalys Sánchez and Cristel Mendoza. Thanks to the people and companies that collaborated to carry out this activity for the elderly of the municipality of San Juan del Sur.

During the week of May 8 to 12, the first Children's Baseball Camp of 2017 was held with children from the María Auxiliadora School. 30 children participated in this camp. The children were taught about habits and values for their personal development, as well as baseball techniques. On the last day of the camp the children were divided into two teams and they played a friendly baseball game. This was followed by a closing event in which the 5 best participants, chosen on the basis of their behavior and participation during the week, were given gifts. Each child received a certificate of participation, and they all happily enjoyed pizza and ice cream topped off with a piñata. We thank the sponsors of this children's baseball seminar, the Christopher Shatagin Foundation, and the coach Alejandro Noguera. On Saturday April 29, 6 scholarship students graduated from the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua UPOLI-Rivas:
