On February 23, 100 school packages were distributed in schools:
This delivery of school supplies was made possible thanks to the sponsorship of Cannonball Group Nicaragua and the support of August and Clare Adams, Sean and Natalie Kirk, and Beverly Campbell.
We thank them all for their support of the school supplies program promoted by Fundación A. Jean Brugger. We are happy that together we have been able to help the children of these communities that have limited economic resources.
This February 15 Fundación A Jean Brugger held an Ancianos program in honor of St. Valentine’s Day, where our old people enjoyed dancing and competitions such as dances, songs and poetry. Awards were presented to winners, sponsored by Discover Real Estate, El Gato Negro, Staff of Hotel Pelican Eyes Resort and Spa, and Students and Staff of Fundación A. Jean Brugger.
This event was held at the restaurant El Timón. We would especially like to thank Mauricio Granja, restaurant manager, for his support in this social work and also the entire staff of the restaurant for their attention, patience, kindness and excellent service.
We are grateful to the sponsors of this event Mrs. Kathy Knight, and her friends David Spertner, Kamila Barzykowski, Diane Prue, Bonnie Betters Reed, Martha Jackson, Francine & Tom Knapp, Waban Union Church, Jenefer & Barry Rice, Denise Rankin and Bill Kenney.
We thank our student volunteers who supported us in this activity, Kelvin Vargas, Denisse Tenorio, Lisbeth Guzmán, Bryan Carrillo, Charlie Rodriguez, Luis Alberto, and Tania Pereira.
Thanks to all of you for helping to make this event possible that provides a day of joy and recreation to our elders in San Juan del Sur.
A group from Quadbridge, a software Company based in Montreal Canada, is here in San Juan del Sur on retreat.
They accompanied the staff of FAJB to Sauda Bikerland School in Las Delicias where we distributed 80 backpacks full of school supplies.
The Quadbridge group donated the money to buy the school supplies which included paints and modeling clay. The group also brought clothes.
We are grateful to Quadbridge and their employees for helping to improve educational opportunity in our community.
Every year in February Fundación A. Jean Brugger organizes a reception for members of the Board of Directors, scholarship students, and staff members of the Fundación.
This year’s reception was held February 10 at the Restaurante El Globo. Thirty scholarship students participated, including the 6 new students added in 2017. Also present were some former scholarship students who have graduated.
During the reception the students and the members of the board of directors were able to talk, and some students had the pleasure to meet their sponsors. The group took many photos and also enjoyed an exquisite caballbayo.
We would especially like to thank Dona Patricia Granja of Restaurante El Globo for her support of the mission of the Fundación for many years.
Last January, the scholarship student Norma Patricia Morales received from the director of social programs of the Fundación A. Jean Brugger a brand new Dell laptop computer, donated by George and Kathy Knight. The Knights are Norma’s sponsors and financially support her university studies.
This computer will be a great help in her studies in the Graphic Design career. Norma is in her fifth year at the Polytechnic University of Nicaragua in the city of Managua.
The Fundación A. Jean Brugger congratulates Norma and thanks the Knights for the support they provide to her for the completion of her professional studies.
On February 3 Fundación A Jean Brugger celebrated with the six new students who have been admitted to the Scholarship Program for 2017 in a welcome meeting at the Fundación offices. The students were introduced to the policies of the Scholarship program, to the students’ commitments and activities, and to the various social and educational programs that are supported by the Fundación A Jean Brugger. At the end of the meeting the staff, new students, and founder A. Jean Brugger shared a snack.
Let us introduce you to our new students who are part of our program:
Starting this year, Denisse Ariela Tenorio Ocampo, who lives in Barrio Carlos Hollman in the municipality of San Juan del Sur, officially enters the scholarship program.
Denisse Tenorio is studying in the third year of the Customs Administration career at the Autonomous Christian University of Nicaragua (UCAN) in the city of Masaya.
Every fall Fundación A. Jean Brugger selects new students for the university scholarship program, and works to find sponsors for these talented young people. In January Beverly and Mark Campbell chose Denisse from the list of students. The Fundación thanks them for the trust they have placed in the Fundación to support this important educational assistance for Denisse Tenorio.
The Fundación A. Jean Brugger welcomes young Denisse Tenorio and the Campbells to our family, and thanks the Campbells for being friends of the Fundación.
Last Sunday, January 22nd, Fundación A Jean Brugger held the first regular meeting of the scholarship program for 2017.
The agenda included: the scholarship program and community service program, follow-up of 2016 projects, the annual program of the activities to be carried out by the foundation, a revision of the scholarship contract, and expectations for the academic performance of each student.
The students also enjoyed a delicious cake in honor of the students who had birthdays in January.
